Who is Ifechi Japhet Nwaorisa?
A Nigerian writer born in Owerri, Imo State, now living in England. Gay, living with HIV, author of six books, a peaceful advocate for Biafra and the founder of a volunteer support line for LGBT+ Nigerians. My story.
How do you pronounce his name?
Ee-FEH-chee. Nwaorisa is roughly Nwa-oh-REE-sa. Ifechi is short for a longer Igbo name meaning roughly what God has done. Friends call him Jay.
Where can I buy the books?

Is being gay illegal in Nigeria?
Yes. The Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2014 carries up to fourteen years in prison; older criminal-code provisions and northern Sharia codes add more. The law.

Yes. He is on treatment and undetectable, which means he cannot pass it on. Living with HIV.
What is Biafra?
The republic declared by Nigeria's Eastern Region in 1967 and defeated in 1970 after a war and famine that killed more than a million people, and the movement for its self-determination today. Biafra.
